Q: Why have a band name when you are a solo artist? A: Because I wanted the opportunity to expand the number of members without having to change names every time. Which is exactly what happened on "After Hours" when dP was a duo. Besides I'd feel stupid sharing a stage with four other musicians saying, -Hello, we are Johan Prosell. Q. Why spell it as one word with a small d and a capital P? A: Well I figured it'd make a nice simple logo if you enhance those two letters and lean them against one another like a couple. Like a pregnant woman and her big headed husband. Like this: dP or
this Q: Why doublePark? Couldn't you have come up with an even more meaningless lame name? A: No. I couldn't. Are there any other bands around with the same name. Have I been to court against some mariachi trio out of Los Panchos claiming they were first. No cause it's meaningless and lame. Nobody wants it. How many terrific band names are there? One or two tops. And they're both taken. As a kid I was a huge spiderman fan. I thought of "Peter Parker" but ruled it out quickly since we were actually a four-piece at the time. And neither of us were 9 years old. Second choice was "Parker". Sounds poppy right? Taken. Then came "Shark Park". Dangerous yet pleasant. Vaguely related to Spiderman. Plus it rhymes, what a bonus. But then Erik the bassplayer reminded me of the Shark Sandwich/Shit Sandwich scene in "Spinal Tap" and just like that, "Shark Park" was thrown out the window like any sandwich of your choice. Now what other words or expressions had park in them? (I could've gone in another direction but I'm one stubborn bastard.) Double park. Two common words in the english language. Double, you know what it means right? Park, could be two different things. Double Park could be either a place or something you do out of laziness and disrespect. Totally uncool name for a band. It was perfect. I laughed to myself like a hyena thinking about those poor saps in "And They Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead" and how they must repeat that over and over whenever someone asked what their band's called. Sure it's supercool, sure it's original but considering how cruel and unattentive people can be, I'd save a lot of time and patience being in Double Park. Oh man was I wrong.
Q: Why those album titles when there are no songs with those titles on them? A: The songs on "Orange Drive To Seer Street" was written between 1992 and 2002. "92-02" would sum it up pretty good but it sounds like a greatest hits album. I would rather have named the debut just that, "Greatest Hits". Instead I chose the names of the streets I lived on while writing the earliest to the last song on the album. The Orange Drive I'm refering to is in Hollywood C.A. Seer Street is a translation of a street in Stockholm Sweden. "After Hours" was written and recorded at night in Lars apartment. On the cover is a photograph of the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood. Our home away from home 6 nights a week for about a year. By closing time (after hours) we'd hang out in the parking lot, gathering the troops, planning and scheming what that particular night might have to offer. Creativity always arrives when everything's closed and it feels like the rest of the world is sleeping. I love Kiss and my favorite Kiss album is "Destroyer". That's where "My Destroyer" came from. Simple as that.
